Mitral Valve Surgery
Mitral valve surgery is performed for the treatment of stenosis and insufficiency in the mitral valve. The heart valve is replaced or repaired with mitral valve surgery. If the degeneration of the mitral valve is too large, an artificial heart valve will attach. If the degeneration is minor, the mitral valve will repaired.
Mitral Valve Replacement Surgery
Mitral valve surgery is performed by attaching artificial heart valve to the patient. Mitral valve replacement with small incisions of 4-5 cm allows the patients to feel better both psychologically and socially. A biological or mechanical heart valve is attached to the mitral valve operation. Mechanical heart valve is generally preferred in the artificial heart valve replacement. Because mechanical heart valves are longevity, many patients do not have to be operated again.
Mitral Valve Repair Surgery
If degeneration is small in mitral valve, mitral valve can repaired. Obstruction and insufficiency in the valve are treated with minimally invasive methods. With this method, the treatment is completed without changing the patient’s heart valve.
